Today, I drew a bit of head studies for the main characters of my upcoming graphic novel, “Broken Chord”. This blog post will also be the post where I will upload the page previews of “Broken Chord”, once I start illustrating the interior pages. You can see the head studies I drew below. And yes, I’m about to wrap up the writing part in a few weeks. 😊👍
Tentative look of the main characters/head study below. The forehead of the guy on the upper right corner is a bit off, sorry for that. The same guy on the upper left, the drawing is a bit off as well.
January 29, 2019 UPDATE:
Decided to polish and revamp the variant cover page I’ve made a few weeks ago a little more today. You can see it at the very bottom of this blog post. I’ve added some ink splat and some brush strokes using a watercolor brush.
January 11, 2019 UPDATE:
I made a variant cover page. Scroll down below to see it. I think I’m going to use this as the cover page and scrap the one I’ve made the other day as I don’t like how my illustration turned out to be.

I hope you guys are having a swell day today. I Just made the cover page of my “major” graphic novel/comic book issue this year, 2019. After I make this one, I’m still going to make comics this year but only the ones like I’ve made in the past like these following issues, Art of Silliness, Inktober 2018 and JeST DO IT. Something light for me to do, so gag-a-week comic strips will do, I guess.
It’s only January 2019 but it’s likely that I’ll be able to upload and publish “Broken Chord”, online, by May 2019. Or, earlier if I’ll be able to finish it before the month of May. I decided to make the cover page yesterday just to pump me up about this. I’m still not yet done writing the entirety of it, but I’m getting there.
Also, I dedicate this issue of Killer Kamote Komiks to the late and great Stan Lee, “THE MAN”, who made me a comic book fan boy since I was a kid, which eventually led me to create my own comics since 2014. I do hope the silliness and writing part of my work always compensates my crappy illustrations. I consider making my own comics, the best thing that ever happened in my entire life, so far. My crowning glory. My pride and joy. 😀
I also read mainstream comics, not just alternative ones. I’m not a stuck-up hipster by the way. 😀
That’s it for now. I’ll post updates or whatnot about this as the months go by. Anyway, you can view the cover page down below.
• – I really miss those cheesebreads from the 90s. Thank god I belong to that generation because cheesebreads these days taste really bad.
• – Don’t hold any grudges.
* But they beat me up.
– Just leave everything to Jesus, he will avenge you.
* You mean to say, he will help me out and Jesus is a brawler?
I’ve been trying to come up with some comic relief scenes for my next graphic novel, ‘Broken Chord’, while I’m still taking care of my uncle and I hope we won’t spend Christmas inside a hospital as he got hospitalized for the 3rd time this year. Here’s what I’ve got so far and anyway, I won’t post everything, you have to wait until this gets done next year. I’ve come up with a pretty good storyline (I think), but I know the jokes and comic relief scenes still needs more work. I’m gonna wrap up the whole script for this graphic novel in a few months when I finally have enough time to work on this.
Happy Holidays to all my followers!
December 3, 2018
I drew this today on my sketchbook, two guys playing an acoustic guitar. These are just sketches though, I’ll draw better on the actual comic book I’m going to make. This will be the succeeding comic book that I’m going to make next year, 2019. It’s about the rise and fall of a comedy duo band just like Flight of the Conchords and Tenacious D. I’m not saying Flight of the Conchords and Tenacious D “fell” though. I’m using the word “fell” by playing with the word like they got disbanded, they have issues with their bandmates or anything like that for this graphic novel that I’m going to make.
I’m still trying to come up with a really good storyline aside from the “rise and fall” of the band that I’m going to make into a comic book. Of course, it’ll be silly the Killer Kamote Komiks way again. This will be made in full comic book format unlike my previous work, “JeST DO IT”, and it will also have more page count. That’s it for now. I’ll post updates again about this next year. And yeah, this will be my last blog post for the year 2018.
I almost forgot, to all the people who reads my work, if you want to repost my comics on message boards or forums or any other website, please put a link back to my websites. 😀
Happy Holidays, guys!
In case you’re having a hard time reading the text (it’s an actual corny song that I wrote) on my drawing above, you can read it below:
This is our potato song
Potatoes are our vitamins
We take it everyday
Our purgative dose of potatoes
Today, I’ve decided to post another 3 additional page previews of my upcoming comic book/picture book, “JeST DO IT”. The rest of the remaining pages will just be a series of silliness the Killer Kamote Komiks way!
You can also read the first few page previews and also see the covers that I posted more than a month ago for this, in here. 😀
I’ll be able to post all of its entirety by December 2018. Happy holidays, people! 😀
UPDATED: October 12, 2018 – added a very short and simple video trailer for JeST DO IT. Look for it at the very bottom of this blog post.

Here’s the cover page, a page and another joke from my newest and upcoming comic book, “Jest Do It”. Although, this will get done by January 2019. I just decided to make the cover and a single page today August 29, 2018, from the said work, to pump me up about this. It’s still not done and I’m still currently writing the contents of it. This will just be a series of jokes like I’m a stand-up comedian, only thing is, I’m going to write and illustrate it. Some parts of this will be in full comics format and some will only be sort of like a picture book, text with illustrations. This will be a text-driven issue of Killer Kamote Komiks unlike my two recent works this year, “Silly Persons” and “Berdugo“.
A page preview of JeST DO IT:
The images below are going to be the tentative front and back cover, unless I come up with something else along the way while I’m doing this comic book/picture book in November 2018. I also don’t know how many pages this will be so I’m not yet sure if it needs a comic book spine. It’s highly likely that this comic book/picture book will not exceed the total pages of my recent, past works, “Silly Persons” and “Berdugo”.
Some of the Tagalog words you can read at the bottom of the back cover are like slang words/terms which means awesome or cool if you were born in the 80s and grew up in the 90s here in Manila. 😀
Merged Front and Back Cover
Here are some sample jokes from “JeST DO IT” that I’m going to turn into comics form:
1) A really old granny waves goodbye to her five year old grandson. Her grandson says ” Goodbye, grandma! You can play with my ball and scooter. Thanks for the bucket of beer!”
2) A family and their friends are mourning for the loss of the family’s father and they’re currently on the funeral wake. One of the funeral parlor’s staff talks to the family and tells them, “We’ve taken care of the casket and the embalming of your father and we would like to ask if you guys would also like to avail our other merchandise as we also sell moth’s, coffee, biscuits, playing cards, black t-shirts and other items related to your family’s needs on this funeral wake for your deceased loved one.”
Here in the Philippines, most people who’re hosting a funeral wake would most often or not offer the people who are visiting the dead person with a cup of coffee and some biscuits while they stay up so late and they also play playing cards on the venue and wear black t-shirts as they are mourning for the loss of the person. Lastly, every time a moth appears to the person who lost someone, the elders would say that that moth is the dead person visiting the person he/she left behind.
Thank you for your time reading this.
Please crank the volume up as the video trailer below has a background music which was composed, played and recorded by yours truly.😊-Vin
